TO THE VESTRY OF PADDINGTON.

Gentlemen,
I have the honor of presenting to you
my Annual Report for the year ending March
1869. In doing this, I have ventured to exercise
the privilege of drawing your attention to such
points of Sanitary organization as may be most
profitably brought under your notice, and tend to
enlighten the public mind.
General Sanitary Condition of the Parish.
The number of deaths during the year is about
an average, viz.:—in 1867, 1709; in 1868, 1735 ;
1869, 1736; the last number represents a death
rate of 17.2 per 1000 of the standing population.
This includes the 305 deaths in St. Mary's
Hospital, and in Paddington Workhouse. In the
number of deaths registered, 37.3 per cent, of the
whole were of children under 5 years of age.
This class of deaths may be studied by reference
to Table IV. The total number of births was
