The following Works have been done in connecting house and
gulley drains with new sewers where the old sewers have been
discontinued, viz.:—
280 feet of 6-inch pipe drains in Oak Lane, Limehouse, and
Prussom's Island and Cinnamon Street, Wapping.
All the Gullies in the District have been periodically emptied,
and deodorized with chloride of zinc and water.
HOUSE DRAINAGE.
90 houses (including 57 new erections and other buildings)
have been connected with the sewers, and the following works
executed in connection therewith, viz.:—
136 feet of 15-inch pipe drains laid.
416 „ 9-inch do.
4,735 „ 6-inch do.
1,093 „ 4-inch do.
24 Closet pans and traps fixed.
56 Sinks and traps fixed.
Inspections are being constantly made by the Inspectors,
tinder my direction, from house to house throughout the District,
for the purpose of ascertaining what Cesspools remain, and whether
any defective drains exist.
PAVING.
New footway Paving has been laid down as follows, viz.:—
Shadwell.—Twine Court.
Old footway Paving has been relaid as follows:—
Limehouse.—Church Row; Passage to Fore Street; next
new Board Schools in Aston Street; Cayley Street; and Conder
Street.
Ratcliff.—Narrow Street.
Wapping.—Brewhouse Lane.
New carriage-way Paving has been laid down as follows :—
Limehouse.—Parnham Street (in lieu of old pebble paving.)
Shadwell.—Twine Court.
