house Fields has been entered into, and the works are now proceeding,
and when finished will complete the drainage of that locality. £3,000
have been borrowed for the purpose of executing the said improvements,
to be repaid by equal annual instalments in twenty years.
HOUSE DRAINAGE.
Two hundred and seventy-six applications have been received for
drainage, and notices for the erection of 79 new buildings.
Six hundred and eighty-four houses have been drained, and the
following works executed in connection therewith, viz.:—
70 feet of 12-inch pipe drains laid.

Total 26,606 feet.
668 closet pans and traps have been fixed.
851 sinks and traps.
830 feet of old drains cleansed and repaired.
436 cesspools filled up.
In addition to the above, twenty-three houses have been drained
by the contractors of the Board, in default of the owners, or by arrangement
between the owners and the Hoard. The following works were
executed in connection therewith, viz.:—
288 feet of 9-inch pipe drains laid.

Total 1,268 feet.
17 closet pans and traps fixed.
43 sinks and traps.
8 cesspools cleansed and filled up.
Orders for compulsory drainage have been served upon the owners
and occupiers of two houses, and the works mentioned in such orders
have been executed by the owners.
