at a contract price of 5s. per day lor each horse, cart and set of
harness. The Board employed the men and boys.
BOARD'S HORSES, &c.
During the year the number of horses has been increased from
seventeen to twenty. One of the horses died during the year from
lock-jaw and there were four purchased, which makes the number
at present twenty. During the twelve months, with the above
exception, the health of the horses has been very good. We have
not lost a horse for some years, except the one referred to.
