The work was executed by men in the employ of the Board.
The Tar Pavement in Lewisham was made in the field at Catford,
and that used in Penge at the Stone Yard, Beckenham Road.

The cootract for laying the Asphalte was let to Mr. Leopold
Stiebel, at 4s. 6d. per sqaure yard, the Board removing, at their
cost, the surplus earth.
