September. Before this time the Dust was collected partly by the
Board's own horses and carts and partly by contractors. Mr.
Stimpson, of Sydenham, supplying hones and carts at fis. per day.
and Mrs. Grant, of Lewisham, also at (Is. per day. There WO*
11,000 cubic yards of dust, &c.. collected during the year in the
Parish of Lewisham. In the Hamlet of Penge the Board contracted
for the supply of hones and carts, and employed their own
men. Mr. Craker supplying the horses and carts at 7s. per day.
There were 2584 cubic yards of dust collected and removed in
Penge during the year. Most of the dust has been sold, but some
of it was unsaleable on account of the vegetable refuse, &e. There
were seven dust carts purchased during the year, four from Mr.
Stevens and three from Messrs. Randall, Stoke newington.
BOARD'S HORSES, &c.
I am glad to report that the horses arc all in good working
condition, and that there has not been an; sickness amongst them,
beyond a cold, during the year. The Board possess at the
present time seventeen horses. Pour were purchased during
the year. There is room in the stable tor another horse. The
Board purchased six slop carts for Lewisham, and two load carts
from Mr. Stevens, of Deptford, and two slop carte for Penge.
