In the Parish of Lcwisham:—Horton Street, Jerrard
Street, Thurston Road, and David's Rood.
In the Hamlet of Penge:—Anerley Grove, Clarina
Road, Penge Place, and Arpley Road.
The collective lengths of the whole of these Roads
amount to about 2 miles.
I am anxious to reduce the cost of making new streets
as much as possible, consistently with doing the work substantially;
and should like to see the experiment tried of
making Kerb, Channel, and Footpath in concrete. If
successful it would materially cheapen these works.
DUSTING.
The collection of dust, ashes, &c., in Lewisham Parish
cost £864 18s. 8d. during the year, and the sale of dust
realised £22 18s. The Hoard now do the work with their
own men, under the direction of the Dust Inspector. In the
Hamlet of Penge the work was done by contract and cost
£174 1ls. 4d. for the twelve months.
I have the honor to be, Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
JOHN CARLINE,
(Civil Engineer.)
To the Board of Works
for the Lewisham District.
