REPORT.
To the Vestry of the Hamlet of Mile End Old Town.
Gentlemen,
In laying before you a summary of the
various works executed under the direction of my department,
I have again to regret that common fund rates have prevented
you from raising a sufficient sum for the work of footway
paving, and trust that in the year we have just commenced it
may be possible to raise at least £2,000 for some special works.
In the past year your own workmen have been much
engaged in relaying and redressing carriageway paving.
The repaving of Harford Street and Ben Jonson Road,
ordered a year since, has not yet been undertaken, as the
necessary financial arrangements have not been made.
