Vestry of the Hamlet of Mile End Old Town.
Vestry Hall, Bancroft Road, Mile End Road, E.
4th December, 1889.
To the Vestry of the Hamlet of Mile End Old Town.
Gentlemen,
re No. 5, Yalford Street.
I have considered the report of the Medical Officer of
Health referred to me at your meeting held on the 20th
day of November, in respect of the house and premises
known as No. 5, Yalford Street, under the provisions of
the Artizans and Labourers' Dwellings' Act, 1868.
The complaint contained in the said report of the
Medical Officer of Health is
That there is not sufficient ventilation to the ground
floor back living rooms.
That there is not sufficient light to the ground floor
back living room.
That the yard is too small to allow sufficient space at
the back of the premises.
That the passages are dirty and dilapidated.
I inspected the premises with the Medical Officer
yesterday, and found that the passages were not dirty
and dilapidated, and the Medical Officer informed me
that the necessary work had been done since his report
was made in this respect.
The remedy for the complaint contained in the said
report of the Medical Officer of Health is to pull down
the addition room in the rear of the house.
To pave over the site thereof and and add the space to
the yard.
In my opinion it is necessary to demolish the said
addition room, in order to remove the complaint contained
in the said report of the Medical Officcr of Health.
Your obedient servant,
(Signed) JNO. M. KNIGHT.
