premises known as No. 4, White Horse Court, under
the provisions of the Artizans and Labourers' Dwellings'
Act, 1868.
The complaint contained in the said report of the
Medical Officer of Health is
That there is not sufficient light to the ground floor
rooms.
That there is not proper ventilation to the living rooms.
That the walls are damp, plaster coming off the walls
and very dirty staircase.
That there is no water supply to the water closet.
That the guttering of the roof is defective.
That the house taken as a whole is in such a dilapidated
condition as to be injurious to the health of the
inhabitants.
Since the citing of the said report which is dated 16th
July last, the buildings in the rear of the said house have
been removed. This has remedied the first complaint as
regards the want of sufficient light to the ground floor
room which has a window in the Court in front and in
the yard at back.
This has also removed the second complaint, namely,
the want of proper ventilation to the living room.
The remedy for the other complaints contained in the
said report is to insert a damp-proof course in the walls.
To make good the plaster. To clean the staircase. To
repair and reinstate the water supply to the water closet.
To clean and repair the guttering of the roof, and to
clean and repair the rain water down pipe, and to repave
the yard and so much of the Court in the front of the
house.
I am, Gentlemen,
Your obedient servant,
(Signed) JNO. M. KNIGHT,
An Engineer appointed to report on the
said house under the above Act.
Vestry of the Hamlet of Mile End Old Town.
