annual rate of 11.7 per 1,000 of the estimated population,
being 0 2 per 1,000 above that of 1920, which was
the lowest recorded in Fulham. The death-rate of males
was 12.1, of females 11.3.
The death-rate of England and Wales was 12.1 and
that of the County of London 12.4, and among the
metropolitan boroughs the lowest rate was 10.5 in
Lewisham and the highest i4.3 in Southwark.
Compared with 1920 there was an increase in the
mortality from tuberculosis and cancer, the deaths from
the latter being the most numerous hitherto recorded
and in excess of those from any other disease.
The mortality from zymotic diseases was also higher
than in 1920, 163 deaths being due to the seven principal
epidemic diseases against 134.
