The Acts of Parliament are very clear on the subject, and I beg to
suggest that the Vestry ought to repeat their instructions, as at the present
time building materials are thrown indiscriminately over many of these
streets, to the great danger of the traffic and foot passengers.
On the 12th August, 1889, the Advertising Stations Rating Act, 52 and
53 Vic., came into force, which enables the Vestry to prohibit advertisements
on Hoardings, and on the 27th day of November, 1889, the Vestry
adopted a new form of Hoarding License, and arranged that a prohibitory
charge of 1d. per foot super, per month, should be charged for Hoardings
used for advertisements in this district.
On the 6th of March, 1890, two builders were fined 20s. and costs for
not complying with the requirements of the Vestry in respect of Hoardings.
