The Vestry also provide these men with flushing boots,
stockings, and sou'-westers.
The Flushers work both winter and summer; 7 hours
underground and 9 hours above ground, and leave work on
Saturdays at 2 p.m.
Gully men were raised from 23s. 6d. per week to 25s.,
and allowed to leave work on Saturdays at 2 o'clock,
instead of at 4 as hitherto. These men work 9½ hours in
summer and 9 hours in winter.
Masons are paid 38s. per week. Masons' Labourers
were raised from 27s. to 28s. per week. Working hours, 9½
in summer and 9 in winter.
Also, if a Mason's Labourer be raised to the post of a
Mason he receives 2s. per week per annum increase, until
he arrives at the full Mason's maximum, 38s.
Road Labourers when employed unloading barges now
receive 5s. a day, or at the rate of 30s. per week, instead of
23s. as formerly.
Road Pickers and Tar Paviors receive 23s. per week,
instead of 22s., and Sweepers receive 19s., 21s., and 22s. per
week. Old men, viz., those who receive 19s. per week
work 9 hours in summer and 8 hours in winter. The
other Road Labourers work 54 hours a week, leaving work
on Saturdays at 2 o'clock.
Steam Roller Drivers are paid 35s. per week, and Flagmen,
19s. Other concessions were made, overtime being
paid at the rate of time and a half,
