No. 147.—Electors Registration (Acceleration) (Mr.
Ritchie). Withdrawn.
No. 159.—Museums and Gymnasiums (Mr. Powell).
Agreed to by the Lords with Amendments.
No. 68.—Tenancies Rating Bill, to divide Rates between
Landlord and Tenant. A petition as ordered by Vestry
was presented against the Bill. The Bill has been dropped.
No. 74.—Rating of Schools Bill, to provide for the
exemption of Public Elementary Schools from the payment
of rates. A petition was presented against this Bill, the
second reading of which is fixed for July 1st.
No. DO.—County Councillors Disabilities Removal Bill,
to remove the disabilities affecting members of County
Councils in respect of contracts for the supply of road
materials.
A petition was presented against this Bill. The Bill
has been withdrawn.
Obstructions
High Street.
Many complaints were made by the shop-
keepers and costermongers placing trucks or
stands upon the pathway and roadway, and selling goods,
especially in Rye Lane and High Street, Peckham. The
street keeper had orders to give notice to costermongers,
and also to shopkeepers, who place their goods on the
thoroughfare to remove these obstructions, and it they did
not comply with the notice that proceedings, with the
sanction of the Committee, would be taken against the
offenders. Rye Lane was first dealt with, but in respect of
High Street, the Vestry had several deputations before
