The number of ordinary lamps now represent an average
of about one lamp to every 65 yards of public and private
road in the Parish.
The charge for the gas supplied to the ordinary lamps is
as follows:—
South Metropolitan Gas Company £3 7s. 4d,
Crystal Palace Gas Company £3 15s. 10d.
per lamp
per annum.
Note.—These charges are subject to 5 per cent. discount,
conditionally that the accounts are paid
within one month of each Quarter-day.
The charge for the gas to the central lamps at Peckham
rye, Goose green, Knatchbull road, and Lordship lane, is by
meter, at the rate of 2s. 5d. per 1,000 feet.
The charges for the remaining ten special lamps vary
according to their illuminating power and gas consumed.
The above prices include the supply of gas, also the
lighting, painting, cleansing, and keeping the lamps and
columns in repair.
