Tour Peppers and one Mustard were of excellent quality. With
the amount of adulteration so general in peppers, this statement is
very creditable.
Six Coffees were also found to be perfectly genuine.
Two samples of Honey were of very fair quality, and the same
may be said of three varieties of Jam.
In conclusion, I have examined three Beers and one Porter
They were of good quality.
The certificates are in the hands of your Inspectors.
Michaelmas, 1887.
During the last Quarter thirty samples of Milk have been
submitted to me for analysis; of these, six were adulterated with,
respectively, 18, 20, 18, 12, 16, and 10 per cent. of water. These
do not represent the whole number watered, as some are skilfully
brought up to the standard fixed.
Samples of Butter, four in number, were fairly of the nature,
substance, and quality demanded. One of them contained nearly
the highest amount of water allowed, and was very salt.
Bread, Flour, and Coffee were of good quality.
The Drugs, four in number, comprised one specimen of Bromide
of Potassium, and three specimens of Sulphate of Quinine. They
all corresponded with genuine articles.
