TAR PAVING.
The General Repairs to tar paved footpaths are also
carried out by the staff of workmen in the employ of the Vestry,
and include the repairing of trenches opened by the various Gas
and Water Companies, builders and others, the cost of which
work is charged to them respectively. The more important
repairs arc done under special contract.
The quantity of such work during the past year has
been as under:—
General Repairs, bottoming and
topping, by Vestry (including
trenches) 25,263 yards super.
Ditto, topping only 2,507 „
Ditto, painting and shelling 111,003 „
Special Repairs by Contractor 1,101 „
ROAD WATERING.
The watering of the public roads of the Parish has been
executed by the staff and plant of the Vestry; the water
supply being obtained principally from the respective Water
Companies, and partly, in the lower districts, from wells.
The mileage of roads watered, and the amount paid for
water was as follows:—
