LOCAL IMPROVEMENTS.
St. James Road, from Old Kent road to the junction
with Rotherhithe New road. The footpaths of this, being
the public or old portion of this road, have been paved with
new 2½ York Paving, in conjunction with the work done in
the "New Street" portion of this road, viz:—from the junction
with Rotherhithe New road to the Parish boundary.
Meeting House Lane, from near Goldsmith road to
opposite Clarkson place. This thoroughfare has been widened
by the Owners of the Estate, upon the south side. The
widened roadway has been formed and made by the Vestry
in anticipation of the new York Paving Work about to be
executed on the line of the footways, extending from Goldsmith
road to Navlor road, as "New Streets" Works.
Queen's Road, Peckham, from near Meeting House
lane to Montpelier road. The completion of the widening of
this important thoroughfare has engaged the attention of the
Vestry, and your Surveyor was instructed to prepare plans
shewing the spaces (principally open fore-courts) necessary to
be acquired to carry out this object. The Vestry having
