The number of ordinary lamps now represent an average
of about one lamp to every 65 yards of public and private
road in the Parish.
The charge for the gas supplied to the ordinary lamps is
as follows :—
South Metropolitan Gas Company £3 9s. Od. per lamp
Crystal Palace Gas Company £3 15s. 10d. per annum.
Note.—Both these charges are subject to 5 per cent.
discount provided the quarterly accounts be paid within one
month of each Quarter-day.
The amount, £3 15s. 10d., charged by the Crystal Palace
Gas Company, is a reduction upon the previous year, which
was at the rate of £3 17s. 8d. The South Metropolitan
Gas Company has also notified to the Yestry that their
charge in the future will be reduced from £3 9s. Od. to
£3 7s. 4d.
The charge for the gas to the central lamps at Peckham
rye, Goose green, and Knatchbull road, is by meter, at the
rate of 2s. 6d. per 1,000 feet, which the Gas Company has
also informed the Yestry will in future be reduced to 2s. 5d.
per 1,000.
The charges for the remaining ten special lamps vary
according to their illuminating power.
The above prices include lighting, painting, cleansing,
and keeping the lamps and columns in repair.
