ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE.
This year being the Quinquennial year since 1880, it
was incumbent upon the Churchwardens and Overseers to
make a re-valuation of the whole of the hereditaments of
the Parish. They finished their laborious duties, and in
due course deposited the revised assessments with the
Committee." The Committee presented a Report to the
Vestry, and as it gives all the details and particulars which
may be interesting to the Parishioners, it is printed in
extenso as follows:—
REPORT OF THE ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE
to the
Vestry of Camberwell,
THURSDAY, APRIL 1, 1886.
THE COMMITTEE have the pleasure of reporting their
proceedings during the past Quinquennial Year, 1885.
The Overseers of the Poor, in accordance with the provisions
of the Valuation (Metropolis) Act, 1 869, deposited with your
Committee, during the year, four Provisional Lists, containing
tli3 following number of Assessments:—
March 568
June 756
September 665
December 620
Total number of separate Assessments- 2,609
as against 2,098 in the Quinquennial Year 1880, and 912 in the
Quinquennial Year 1875.
Two copie3 of each of these Provisional Lists were prepared
by the Clerk—one for the Committee, and one for the Surveyor
of Taxes.
