These records as far as they go are satisfactory.
To determine, however, more accurately what the
figures relating to deaths mean, it is necessary to
consider them in connection with those representing
the numbers of the populations among which the
deaths occurred.
The Census was taken on the 4th April, 1881,
but the population has been gradually increasing
since that time; and in the middle of the year (that
is, three months later), the populations of the several
sub districts and of the whole Parish (had they augmented
severally at the same rates as those by
which they had augmented between 1871 and 1881)
would have been as nearly as possible as follows:
