under this head being £8,816 10s. 10½d., nearly
double that of the previous year.
With reference to the Audit generally, we feel
it but just to say, that owing to the non-attendance
of the Auditors for Nos. 2 and 4 Wards, much
extra labour has been thrown on the remaining
three; but this work has been greatly facilitated
by the extreme courtesy, extra attention, and assistance
rendered by the Clerks of the Offices—Mr. Lord
and Mr. Pit-field, for which we return them our
best thanks.
