TRAMWAYS.
Your Committee lias had under its consideration
the question of the working of the Tramways in the
Parish.
In regard to their general convenience to the
Public there can be no doubt, but it has been
seriously urged by many Ratepayers residing in the
narrow thoroughfares through which these Tramways
pass, that this public advantage has been
gained at their personal loss, by the interference
which it causes to business. This has been the
source of much disturbance in these thoroughfares,
and has, unfortunately, rendered Magisterial interference
necessary.
With a view to lessen the annoyance referred to,
your Committee has been in communication for some
time with the aggrieved parties, and also with the
Tramways Company, and, after much consideration,
arrangements are being made towards effecting
this object.
Plans have been submitted to your Committee
by the Tramway Company, proposing to make certain
Alterations in the system of the Tram Rails, which
proposals, with other arrangements in the method of
working the Car Traffic, are fully detailed in the
Report of your Surveyor, and which, for the information
of the Parishioners, is here appended.
