But before proceeding to do this, it will be well to
lay before you some of the facts and some of the
teachings of the Census.
Already, in my last year's report, I was able to
furnish you with the actual facts ascertained in
regard to this parish—namely, that it contained, on
the night when the numbering took place, 111302
inhabitants, of whom 50814 were males, 60488
females; and that these inhabited 17755 houses,
there being also at that time 1920 houses unoccupied,
and 359 building; and that of these totals
Dulwich comprised 4041 inhabitants, and 646
inhabited houses; Camberwell, 31251 inhabitants,
and 4998 inhabited houses; Peckham, 42159 inhabitants,
and 7016 inhabited houses; and St.
George's, 33851 inhabitants, and 5095 inhabited
houses.

columns, the acreage, the population, the houses,
and the population per acre and per house, of the
entire parish and of each of its sub-districts:—
