MEDICAL OFFICER'S
ANNUAL REPORT,
BY
J. S. BRISTOWE, M.D., Lond,
Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians; Physician to, and Lecturer on General
Pathology at, St. Thomas's Hospital; Examiner in Medicine at the University of
London, and in Anatomy and Physiology at the Royal College of Physicians.
Gentlemen,
On the 3rd April, 1871, the Census was taken;
and the exact number of persons living in the parish
(one of the essential elements in determining the
death-rate) was then accurately ascertained. We
are, therefore, now, for the first time during ten
years, enabled to calculate with tolerable accuracy
the death-rates of the parish and of its several
sub-districts.
