TO THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS
OF THE
Vestry of St. Matthew, Bethnal Green
Gentlemen,—I have given careful consideration to the question
of scavenging and removal of dust, &c., which was referred to me
by the Committee of the whole Vestry for report, and have made
enquiries with respect to the methods adopted in other parishes,
and as to the probable cost and difficulties of carrying out the
work by a staff in the direct employ of the Vestry, and without
the intervention of contractors, and I beg to report that in order
to carry out the work without contractors it would be necessary to
provide and have in readiness for work on August 10th next.
