St. Peter
Street.
The Sanitary Committee reported to the Vestry on
the condition of the drains of St. Peter's Schools, and
of the houses in St. Peter Street, between the Square
and the Adelphi Chapel, and the subject was referred
to tho Works' Committee. It was found that an old
brick drain, which drained the schools and also property
in the neighbourhood of Mansford Street, passed under
tho school building and connected with a similar drain
running parallel with the back fronts of tho houses in
St. Peter Street. For tho most part these drains were
choked. By the instructions of the Committee a 12-inch
pipe sewer was constructed in St. Peter Square, connecting
with the deep outfall sewer of the London
County Council in St. Peter Street, and terminating at
the school gates, at a cost of £49 10s. The school
authorities then drained the school premises into this
sewer, and the owners of the houses In St. Peter Street
also laid new pipe drains to connect with it. The old
defective brick drains were filled up.
Patriot
Square.
The sewer in Patriot Square was extended eastwards
by laving a length of 166 feet of 12-inch pipes, and
a manhole was constructed at the point where the
extension commenced.
Horatio Street
Shipton Street
Ezra Street,
etc.
The old brick sewers in these streets have been broken
up, and the new system of pipe sewers constructed,
connecting with the County Council's main sewer, at
the corner of Great Cambridge Street, Hackney Road.
The following are the lengths and sizes of the new
sewers, viz.:—
Horatio Street 376 feet of 18-inch pipes
Shipton Street 560 feet of 15-inch pipes
Ezra Street 255 feet of 18-inch pipes
