This amount is £284 more than last year, and £197
more than the year previous. The addition is almost
made up by the amount of contributions to the Sick,
Burial, and Benefit Fund, the actual amounts paid for
labour being about the same.
The subject of the wages paid to the men in the
employ of the Vestry is again under the consideration
of the Vestry, on a memorial from the Vestry Employés'
Labour Union.
To assist the Vestry in the consideration of this
memorial, a return was prepared, shewing the rates of
wages paid to the various classes of labour, and the
conditions of employment, in the other Parishes and
Districts of London. (A copy of this return will be
found as an Appendix to this Report)
Sick, Banal,
and Benefit
Fund.
The working of this fund has received careful consideration,
and three of the employes (representing
the whole body) attended to meet a small Sub-Works
Committee, and discuss the working of the fund. As a
result of this Conference, it was agreed to make some
alterations in the rules, the principal being that the
whole of the balanoe should be distributed at Christmas,
instead of a portion being retained as originally proposed.
(A copy of the amended rules will be found as an
Appendix to this Report). At Christmas, the balanoe
in hand was divided amongst the men, each man
receiving £1 10s., leaving a small balance to carry
forward.
