BILLS IN PARLIAMENT.
The Regent's Canal City and Docks Railway Company
applied for, and obtained the Act mentioned in the bust Report for
extension of the time for the completion of the undertaking, but
did not proceed with the Bill for abandoning the undertaking,
other than the Canal.
Columbia Market Railway.—The promoters applied for and
obtained an Act giving leave (as mentioned in the last Report) to
abandon the construction of the proposed Railway.
Metropolis Management and Building Acts Amendment
Bill.—This Bill was fully considered and favourably reported on
by the Parliamentary Committee, as making many desirable
Amendments. Part only of this Bill became Law as the
"Metropolitan Management Amendment Act, 1890." The
provisions in the Bill with reference to the Building Acts and
the use of Steam Road Rollers were not inserted in the Act.
Metropolis Management Amendment Act (1862) Amendment
Bill was passed as an "Act to amend the 78th section of
the Metropolis Management Amendment Act, 1862." By that
section, footways existing at the time of the passing of the Metropolis
Local Management Act, repaired by the Vestry or any other
person, but not flagged might be flagged by the Vestry, and the
cost levied by a rate upon the occupiers of the houses in the road
or street, either in one sum or by equal instalments extending
over twenty years. That section is repealed by the New Act,
which provides, that in case any footway existing at the passing
of the Metropolis Local Management Act has been repaired by the
Vestry but not flagged, the Vestry may flag the same, and the
expense shall be repaid to the Vestry by the owners of the houses,
and the owners of the land bounding or abutting on the road or
street in which the footway is.
