DEATHS.
Tho number of deaths registered in the Parish during the year
was 2961, against 2091 in tho previous year; this gives an increase
of 370, but it includes 140 non-parishioners who have died in
Bethnal Green Hospitals, whose deaths must be excluded from the
enumeration. On tho other hand, I have received information from
tho General Register Office of tho deaths of 378 inhabitants of
Bethnal Green in extra-parochial Hospitals ; these deaths must be
added, and they raise the net total to 3199.
BIRTHS.
Tho births during the year were 4811, against 4939 in 1889, a
decrease of 128. The excess of the births over the deaths was
1612; this is 619 fewer than last year.

DEATH RATE.
Upon tho basis of tho enumerated population, we shew a rate of
mortality of 24.78 for the year 1890 ; this is 4 per thousand above
that of the year 1889. It exceeds that of the whole Metropolis,
which was 20.3, and it is also above that of the Eastern Districts of
London, which was 23.8.
