The manner in which the Water Company's vouchers
have been prepared has caused considerable trouble,
their foremen having acquired a habit of forgetting to
include the concrete. This has involved great care on
the part of your officers in examining the vouchers, also
considerable discussion and correspondence with the
officers of the Company; but I am glad to say that in
almost every claim which I have made on behalf of the
Vestry the claim has eventually been allowed by the
Company.
The charge for repairing trenches in macadam roads
(opened by the East London Water Works Company),
has been raised, so that the Vestry now receive 2s. per
yard, instead of 1s. 3d. as heretofore.
Punderson
gardens.
The carriageway, northern end of Punderson gardens,
was repaved with town made pitchings, on concrete, at
a cost of £122 12s.
Gore road.
The footpath at the eastern end of Gore road, at the
entrance to Victoria Park, and the carriageway crossing at
the Park gates, have been paved at a cost of £88 12s. 1d.
Gibraltar
walk.
The carriageway at the southern end of Gibraltar
walk (between Ducal street and the Gibraltar Public
House) has been paved with town made pitchings, on
concrete, at a cost of £100 6s. 1d.
Russia lane.
The southern portion of the carriageway of Russia
lane has been paved with pitchings from stock, at a cost
of £92 14s. l0d.
