STREETS AND ROADS.
Besides the ordinary repairs of the foot and carriageways, the
paving of Shacklewell Street, has been completed by continuing it up
to Bethnal Green Road. Part of the footway of Morpeth Road has
been paved. The paving of the wide footway in front of the part of
Bethnal Green Road, formerly known as Punderson Place, has been
completed by extending the pavement up to the forecourts.
The crossings leading to the entrance to the Park, in Approach
Road, and to the entrance to the Park iu Grove Road, and the
carriageway entrance to the Park, in Grove Road, have been paved
with 4x4 granite cubes.
Pereira Street, which is partly in this parish and partly in Whitechapel,
has at the joint expense of the Whitechapel District Board
and the Vestry, been repaired and improved by the carriageway being
reformed, made up with "Macadam," and steam rolled, and three
stone channels on concrete laid down.
The old channels and kerb in Orange Street, have been taken up
and a 12x6 kerb laid down, new channels formed, and the crossing
to Gosset Street relaid.
HOLLYBUSH GARDENS.
On the completion of the purchase of the north end of Hollybush
Gardens, for the purpose of making the place a thoroughfare, the
Vestry erected the fences, formed the gateways, and made good the
vendor's buildings in accordance with the stipulations of the agreement
for sale, and the sewer was extended to Middleton Street. The
footways of the new part were paved with Victoria stone, kerbed and
channeled, and the carriage way of the new part made up with
"Macadam," and steam rolled. At the same time the old cubes
between the stone tram lines were taken up and relaid on an extra
depth of concrete, and part of the old footway paving relaid with
Victoria stone. The new thoroughfare is found to be a public
convenience.
PARMITER'S CHARITY.
The Committee of Council on Education did not adopt the suggestion
made by the Vestry, as mentioned in the last report, but approved
of the scheme as prepared and published by the Charity Commission.
