SMALLPOX. No case of smallpox occurred, but there were 19 contacts of the
disease requiring surveillance. There were nine consultations with local
medical practitioners, and in each case smallpox was excluded.
INTERNATIONAL SANITARY REGULATIONS. (WHO Regulations No. 2). International
Certificates of vaccination against Smallpox to the number of 544 and six
against Cholera were duly authenticated.
WHOOPING COUGH. The number of cases notified was 34 as compared with 326 in
1960 and 36 in 1959.
PUBLIC HEALTH BACTERIOLOGY. The 1,642 specimens submitted for examination to the Public Health Laboratory were reported on as follows:-

Seven of the specimens of faeces submitted which were positive for
salmonella paratyphi B were in respect of two chronic carriers, from whom
specimens of urine and faeces are submitted for examination every three months.
In addition to the above, 23 samples of food were submitted for bacteriological
examination in connection with the investigation of cases of food
Poisoning, food complaints, &c.
