Suicide and Accidents. Suicides in the borough totalled 17 - ten men and
seven women.
Motor vehicle accidents accounted for 8 male deaths, and all other accidents
accounted for 13 male and 3 female deaths.
Inquests relating to Hackney residents were held in 34 cases.
Deaths of Hackney residents from the various causes and in the different
age groups are shown in the table on Pages 1-5 of the Appendix
Maternal Mortality There were no deaths from causes associated with
pregnancy or childbirth.

Infantile Mortality,, Fifty children under the age of one year, and resident
in Hackney, died, resulting in an infantile mortality rate of 19.78 per
thousand live births, as compared with a rate of 23.8 for the County of London
and 27.6 for England and Wales.
