HOUSING ACT, 1936.
PART II.
Section 4—Information to tenants.
During 1951,16 instances of failure to include in the rent book
the name and address of the Medical Officer of Health and/or the
landlord or other person responsible for keeping the house in all
respects reasonably fit for human habitation in accordance with the
provisions of Section 4 of the Housing Act, 1936, were reported.
Notices drawing attention to the omission and warning that
failure to comply with the requirements of the section would result
in legal proceedings were sent to the persons concerned.
Section 9—Repair of insanitary houses.
Inspections of houses under Section 9 of the Housing Act, 1936,
continued during 1951, but the inspections were on a reduced scale
as compared with the previous year because of the loss of two of the
housing inspectors. The greater concentration upon following up
the notices previously served—which is reflected in the increase of
the number of houses made fit; and the increase in the number of
houses where work was carried out by the Council in the owners'
default, resulted in more time having to be devoted to the supervision
of work in progress.
