If the statistics of the 1931 census of the population are judged
by the overcrowding standard of the Housing Act, 1935, it is found
that there were in 1931 3,951 overcrowded families. The recent
survey has shown that there were 2,641 overcrowded families, a
reduction of 1,310 families.
Factors which may have had an effect in this reduction in the number of overcrowded families are:—
(1) Decrease in Population.
