Proceedings were taken during the year against a registered
street trader for failing to cause refuse arising from his stall to be
placed in a suitable covered receptacle and for failing to take steps
to guard against contamination of the food exposed for sale. The
trader was fined 10s. Od. in respect of each of the two summonses.
One hundred and sixty-six visits were made to the food
factories in the Borough. The premises generally were found to
be in a clean condition and the food sound and free from disease.
Nine notices were served for contraventions of the London County
Council (General Powers) Act, 1928.
Slaughter of Animals Act, 1933.—One application for a
slaughterman's licence and fourteen applications for the renewal of
such licences were received and granted during the year.
Unsound Food.—The following foodstuffs were examined and
condemned by the Council's Food Inspectors and surrendered to the
Council for destruction, in accordance with Section 47 of the Public
Health (London) Act, 1891 :—
