During the year, 165 samples of specially designated milk were
purchased and submitted to bacteriological examination for the
purpose of ascertaining whether they conformed to the standards
laid down in the Order. Seven samples of "Pasteurised," seven
of Grade A (T.T.), two of Certified, one of Grade A "Pasteurised"
and one of Grade A milk did not conform to the standards for these
grades of milk. The vendors concerned furnished explanations,
which were accepted, as to why the milk did not conform to the
standards. Further samples of milk obtained from these firms at
later dates proved to be satisfactory.
Milk Supplied to Hospitals and Schools.—Samples of the milk
supplied to the London County Council's hospitals and schools in
the Borough are taken periodically and submitted to bacteriological
or chemical examination.
