It will thus be seen that the Borough Council's comprehensive
programme for slum clearance, framed in 1930, has proceeded
without unavoidable delay, and it is expected that the Borough
Council will have completed its programme of demolition of
clearance areas and re-housing on the Lower Clapton Road and
Banister Street sites within the five-year period contemplated in
1930.
When the County Council has completed its agreed programme,
every unhealthy area ear-marked for attention as a clearance
area during the survey of the Borough in 1928 will have been demolished
and the tenants of the houses therein, amounting to a
population of approximately 6,335 persons, will have been re-housed
in modern flat dwellings within the Borough.
