HEALTH EDUCATION.
Lectures are held at Centres and before various Societies and
Associations. Pamphlets and booklets with regard to health and
infectious disease are distributed.
HOSPITALS.
The Hospitals with which the Council have made arrangements
for the admission of patients are:—
(1) Situated Within the Borough—
(a) The Salvation Army Mothers' Hospital, Lower Clapton
Road.—The number of beds provided for the reception of maternity
cases, exclusive of isolation and labour beds, is 88.
(b) St. Joseph's Hospice for the Dying, Mare Street.—Seventyfive
beds are provided at this Institution for the reception of patients
in the last stages of illness.
(2) Situated Outside the Borough—
(a) The City of London Lying-in Hospital, City Road.
The arrangements made with the two maternity hospitals are
described on page 47 of this Report, whilst the use made of St.
Joseph's Hospice for the Dying for the isolation of cases of advanced
tuberculosis is shown on page 113.
