HOUSING.
Arrangements are now completed for proceeding with the
Banister Street Clearance Scheme as soon as the enquiry has been
held, and the remaining proposals included in the five-year
programme are to be brought forward as opportunity permits. The
Nisbet Street Scheme has had all particulars prepared as to plans,
rehousing, etc., and will be the next scheme to follow the Banister
Street Area, unless increased housing accommodation provided by
the Lower Clapton Road flats or the County Council flats will
permit the Council to deal with some of the purely Clearance
Schemes which entail no rehousing in the area cleared, such as
Middlesex Wharf or Queen's Court.
Full particulars of the housing in the Borough and the
Clearance Areas, etc., appear in the 1930 report and need not now
be repeated.
