The special arrangements made by the Borough Council for the
investigation of maternal deaths and cases of puerperal fever and
puerperal pyrexia are described on page 38 of this Report.
SENILE MORTALITY.
The deaths which occurred in Hackney at 65 years of age and
upwards during 1931 numbered 1,202, and of these 598 were between
the ages of 65 and 75 years, 464 between 75 and 85 years, and 140
at 85 years and upwards. The annual mortality-rate of persons at
65 years and upwards is 5.5 per 1,000 inhabitants.
