Isolation Shelter.
During the year there were 190 persons admitted to the Shelter
while their homes were being disinfected. This total consisted of 52
men, 58 women, and 80 children. The cost of maintenance of these
persons admitted was £17 4s. Od.
Cleansing of Persons Act, 1897.
The baths provided by the Borough Council under the above Act,
for the cleansing of verminous persons, were in constant use. The
total number of baths given during the year was 3,685 (252 to adults
and 3,433 to children). This total shows a decrease of 544 upon the
number given during 1926.
Of the 3,685 baths given, 595 were sulphur baths for scabies, and
3,090 for pediculi. The great majority of those persons presenting
themselves for baths were children from the elementary schools in
the Borough. The children received 3,433 baths, a decrease of 546
upon the number given during 1926.
