Public Health (Preservatives, etc., in Food) Regulations, 1925—1926.
These regulations were further amended in certain detail by
Regulations issued June 25th, 1927.
During the year 897 samples were obtained and examined by the
Public Analyst for the presence of " Preservative," these included: —
Milk 641 Jam 12

Sausages 19 Chicken & Ham Roll 1
Pickles 9 Brawn 8
Breakfast Sausage 8 Bloater Paste 1
Chicken & Ham Paste 1 Dried Fruit 5
Salmon & Shrimp Paste 1 Crystallised Fruit 2
Fish Paste 11 Mineral Waters and
Candied Peel 2 Cordials 14
Sweets 12 Sausage Meat 1
Cream 12 Chopped Meat 5
Sausage (Luncheon) 2 Corned Beef 3
Pork and Stuffing 2 Sponge Cake 2
Meat Paste 2 Canned Fruit 3
Butter 51
Mince Meat 6 ^7
There were no prosecutions under the regulations during the year
for any of the above, but warning letters were sent in six cases jto
Vendors of:—

Fish Paste 1 Chopped Meat 1
Public Health (Prevention of Tuberculosis) Regulations, 1925.
These Regulations have been found helpful from a preventative
point of view in dissuading persons known to be tuberculous from
entering the milk trade, and inducing relatives of persons engaged in
the milk trade from refusing institutional treatment. It has fortunately
not been necessary to take formal action under these Regulations
or to serve notices, as required under Section 5.
