3. Thickening Substances.— Any evidence of their addition to
cream, or to preserved cream. Action taken where found— None.

Public Health (Condensed Milk) Regulations, 1923.
Public Health (Dried Milk) Regulations, 1923.
There were no contraventions of these Regulations during the
year. Twelve samples of condensed milk and four of dried milk were
taken for analysis, all being found to be genuine.
REPORT OF POOD INSPECTOR (Mr. A. J. BOBBITT).
Dairies and Milkshops.— 1,377 visits of inspection were made
during the year. 96 new milksellers have been registered. The
number of milksellers on the register is now 366. Five notices have
been served for cleansing and small repairs.
Cow-Houses.— 60 visits were made to the five cow-houses which
I always found kept in a clean and satisfactory condition.
Slaughter-Houses and Meat Inspection.— There are now 15
licensed slaughter-houses in the Borough, a reduction of two since last
year. The humane killer is now in universal use on all animals
slaughtered for human food. 475 visits were made during the year,
when I examined the carcases and organs of 4,316 sheep and lambs,
330 pigs, 2 sows, 62 calves and 224 oxen and heifers. The following
I found diseased or unfit and had destroyed : —
Head, tongue and lungs of an ox affected with Tuberculosis.

One sow's head do. do.
Five pigs' heads and two plucks do. do.
Lungs and ribs of a pig do. Pleurisy.
Lungs and ribs of a lamb do. do.
Flanks of a sheep do. Peritonitis.
Parts of ten oxen do. Extensive bruising.

41 sheep's livers do. do.
5 ox livers do. Multiple abscess.
6 sheep's lungs and 7 livers do. Parasitic cysts.
