The whole of the milk consumed is brought into the
Borough by rail or motor with the exception of the comparatively
small amount produced in the seven local dairies keeping 39 cows.
131 samples of milk for analysis were taken in the course of
delivery from farmers to retailers in the Borough. Of these 10
were found not to be genuine.
There are 372 retailers of milk in the Borough, some in a
large way of business, but many doing a very small trade.
625 samples of milk were taken in shops or in the streets of
the Borough in course of delivery by roundsmen to customers.
Of these 9 were found not to be genuine.
Average percentage of adulteration of all samples of milk
procured during the year—2.5.
