DAIRIES, COWHOUSES, AND MILKSHOPS.
(a) Cowhouses.—The licensed cowkeepers in the Borough have
again decreased in number during the past year. At the end of
1912 they numbered 14. with 18 cowsheds. One licence and 2 cowsheds
had been given up during the year. Inspector Bobbitt reports
that he made 174 visits of inspection to the cowsheds during the
year. He served two intimation notices for repair, one of which
was immediately complied with, but the other not until objection
had been made to the renewal of the license. On September 23rd,
the Public Health Committee made their annual visit to the cowhouses
in the Borough. These were found to be in a satisfactory
condition with the exception of 3, which were dirty, and in 5 others
an excess of cobwebs were present. The required cleansing was
done on the service of notices.
