Deaths.— The total number of deaths registered in the Borough
of Hackney during 1912 was 2,952, but of these 663 were deaths
of non-residents dying in institutions and other places in the
Borough. There were, on the other hand, 431 residents who died
during the year in institutions in other districts. On making the
necessary corrections by deducting 663 from the total deaths
registered in the Borough and adding 431 to the result, we
obtain the correct number of deaths amongst Hackney residents
viz., 2,720. This is a decline of 481 upon the number of
deaths which occurred in the Borough during the year 1911. The
crude general death-rate from all causes for the year is 12.2
