in some cases, reports will be needed at fortnightly intervals.
These will not need to be so detailed or exhaustive as the quarterly
report. I suggest a fee of 2s. 6d. for all inter-quarterly reports.
Some rule must be made as to the quantity of medicine supplied
at each visit or consultation. This is important when the supply
is included in the fee. If further medicine is required before the
next visit, I suggest it should be supplied by the doctor, at the rate
of 7d. per 8 oz. bottle or its equivalent.
Some rule must be formulated to prevent patients unnecessarily
calling the doctor to visit him, and also on the other hand unnecessarily
visiting the doctor at his surgery.
The scale of remuneration I recommend for doctors undertaking
domiciliary treatment of cases of tuberculosis is therefore, as
follows:—
s. | d. | |
---|---|---|
Consultation at Doctor's surgery or residence with medicine | 3 | 0 |
Visit to patient's home with medicine | 3 | 0 |
Injection of tuberculin, including cost of tuberculin | 3 | 0 |
Quarterly reports on condition of patient as per order of Local Government Board | 5 | 0 |
Inter-quarterly reports | 2 | 6 |
Night visits to patient's home between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m | 5 | 0 |
Medicine between visits for one 8 oz. bottle of medicine or its equivalent | 0 | 7 |
The term medicine, as used above, does not include cod liver
oil or malt extract or emulsions of these.
