It will be noticed that the total number of deaths do
not correspond with those given in the other tables, which arises
from the precise addresses of 32 residents of the District who
died in Asylums outside London not being given in the ExtraMetropolitan
Returns, so that these deaths cannot be assigned
to any particular Sub-District of Hackney. It will be seen
that the number of deaths belonging to Stoke Newington and
Stamford Hill are in excess of any other year referred to in the
table, whilst those in the other Sub-Districts are fewer in
number. In West Hackney they were less than in any of these
years, in Hackney smaller than in 1881 and 1884, and in South
Hackney fewer than in 1882. I cannot give accurate percentages
for these Sub-Districts, and therefore do not give any,
as in the Hackney Sub-District the following deaths are
registered, viz., in the Workhouse those of residents removed from
all the Sub-Districts, many of whom were in the Workhouse before
the last census; also the deaths in the City of London Union,
which would have to be distributed, as well as a proportion of
the population of these institutions, amongst the various SubDistricts
in order to obtain accurate results. It would also be
necessary to procure a census of the inhabitants in the SubDistricts,
as the increase does not take place equally in all,
